In the villages of Goa, you will be served liquor prepared in front of you. For this ‘Cottage and Beer’ plan has been prepared. This plan is being prepared by the Goa government. This is also a way of entertaining the tourist. Tourists will be able to enjoy Goa’s local liquor ‘feni’ along with the natural environment of villages that will be different from the Goa’s urban environment.
In order to implement this scheme, the Goa government has prepared a special plan of cottage and beer with the intention of bringing more and more land under cultivation. Under the Agro-Tourism concept, Deputy CM Vijay Sardesai unveiled the plan in the concluding session of Summer Agriculture Camp in Fatorda, Goa. He said, tourism is spreading in the villages of North Goa. If anyone has to build a cottage, for that it is important that farm land is available.
He said, if the agriculture department confirms the presence of agricultural land, then we can sanction the construction of the cottage. The construction of the cottage will be temporary and without any government help. Fresh beer will also be available for tourists.

Sardesai said that we have to show the world that women of Fartoda who are running self help group can prepare huts in the middle of the fields. All this will be done as an experiment. In the huts, tourists will be served with fresh food of the village along with fresh beer prepared in micro breweries. Experts associated with Goa government and tourism industry say that this will have a profound effect on Goa’s tourism. It is being said that tourists coming from Europe and Russia are beginning to get bored with growing urbanization here. Urbanization in their countries is more systematic than the urbanization here, here they want enjoy the peaceful environment of the village. Over the last ten years, foreigners and local tourists have turned towards the villages, and there they do not get a place to stay, or a bar were they can enjoy their drinks.
The Government of Goa is also emphasizing on the promotion of Goa’s domestic liquor feni. Government sources say that such good quality country liquor is not made at any other place . Goa government by implementing Cottage and Beer scheme is trying to increase tourism and liquor industry in Goa.
