Liquor Ban on Goan Beaches, Bill Introduced

Bad news for Goa lovers, Goa which is famous all over the world for its beautiful beaches, from now on consuming liqour under the open sky or while relaxing on the beaches can cost you dearly in Goa. The real beauty of Goa lies in its beaches, and the tourists coming here will surely be disappointed, if they are allowed to enjoy their alcoholic drinks on the beaches, because thats what Goa is famous for, Sea food and Wine. In a major move, the state government on wednesday introduced a bill ‘Goa Tourist Places(Protection and maintenance Act 2001)’ for imposing a ban on drinking and cooking in the open. According to the bill, voilaters will be fined up to a maximum of Rs 10,000. Under this, Rs 2,000 will be for individual voilation, while group voilation will be fined Rs 10,000. If someone does not pay the penalty, he or she can be imprisoned for three months. If such an event is now seen, and after the picture of that person is whatsapp to the Tourism Department, action against that person will be taken within 12 hours.

In total there are more then 50 beaches in north and south Goa. Every year millions of tourist can be seen enjoying their drinks and having fun on the beaches, and for the Goan government it is the third largest source of revenue. According to the Goa Tourism Department the total number of tourist who visited Goa till December 2018 were 54 lakh 80 thousand and 773, this include 48 lakh 76 thousand and 359 domestic tourist and 6 lakh 4 thousand and 414 foriegn tourist, hence banning open liquor consumption will drastically bring down the number of foreign tourist coming to Goa, and that certainly will effect the tourism revenue of the government.
