Is the person who is killed by poisonous liquor, a culprit, does he deliberately drink poisonous liquor, is he cursed for such death …. Many such questions arise in our minds, when people die due to poisonous liquor, the civil society attitude towards these people and their families is extremely negligible, and often very cruel and rude ….
Recently, in the case of deaths were nearly hundred people died in Saharanpur and Kushinagar of UP, the same was seen as is in the case of Assam now were people have died due to poisonous liquor. The civil society does not treat these people well, so obviously why the government should do it. But the most worrying and disturbing thing is, the insensitivity of the media towards these people.
Newspapers and news channels are mostly talked about, but what about online media, we came to know that online media is as senseless as news channels or newspapers while talking about these people. In Assam, Golaghat and Jorhat nearly 150 people died after drinking poisonous liquor. More than a hundred people died on 24th February only, the cycle continued till 25thFebruary ie Monday. On Monday, February 25th, at four o’clock in the evening, at the NDTV news site, , there were about 141 text news and videos, but the of the people who died in Assam was missing. It was not even in the six trending reports, it was not in the latest news too. The same was the case at four o’clock 22 minutes on its associate English ndtv.com. The Assam news was missing on its home page were there were about 112 news articles (text, video etc.)
Out of more than 150 news on the Home page of the Times of India.com, there was no news of people, who died after consuming poisonous liquor in Assam. It was not even featuring in latest 19 news and eight top News Stories of this website. Jagran.com appearance did not differ from any of these. Nearly 93 news stories were on its home page at four o’clock and 38 minutes, but Assam’s deaths were missing. On this site, the promotion of mobile phones, tech knowledge and horoscope were prominent. About 130 news stories were running on the home page of the Hindustan.com site, including gadgets, life style, health and crime, everything was there, except the news of Assam. A news video was prominently featured on this site that a six-year-old child was taken out of a borewell in Pune after 16-hours.
About 189 news was going on at Amar Ujala .com home page, including video, text photo etc, but there was no news of Assam. There were approximately two hundred videos and news reports like Josh-e-Jawani , Periods, Sex Life, Recipe, on Navbharat Times’s.com home page, at four o’clock 52 minutes, but there was no place for those who died in Assam.
But the third big news on the home page of BBC Hindi .com was about the people who died in Assam. It was reported directly from Assam’s Halamira Tea Bagan. Not only this, the BBC had not removed the news from its home page even in the the evening. The BBC also published a report related to Assam on February 24. Why was the report of Assam only on the BBC, would any of us try to think about it?
Writing does not mean presenting the negativity of others; the only thing is that the prejudice of Indian media should not be at least on the online media, because this media is global, it has worldwide access, our prejudice should not be carried over to it, it would be better for us and for the civil society.
