Officials of the UP Liquor Association met Chief Secretary Dr. Anup Chandra Pandey on Tuesday and handed over a five-point demand letter.Through the demand letter, the Association opposed the fixation of the quota of English liquor and beer and demanded it not to be implemented. Association’s general secretary Kanhaiya Lal Maurya said that they demanded Chief Secretary to increase the dividend (commission) on the sale of liquor and unconditional renewal of all the shops for the next year 2019-20.

Officials told the Chief Secretary that due to the fixation of the quota of English liquor and beer, there would be substantial increase in the security amount. Due to this, small shopkeepers will be out and large groups will occupy liquor business once again. Officials said that the way in which the government is deciding the quota of liquor, the small shopkeeper’s livelihood will end and unemployment will increase. With the quota fixed for liquor and beer, there will be substantial increase in the amount of securities which the small shopkeeper is unable to deposit.
