Permission to serve alcohol at home function now online

Now  for serving alcohol to the guests at home function we will not have to resort to frequent visits to the District Excise Officer office for ‘Occasional’ bar licence. All work will be done online. For this, online application must be made on the website of Excise Department and temporary bar license fee will have to be deposited. Excise Commissioner Dhiraj Sahu said  that this arrangement has been done keeping in view of the miseries faced by public for ‘Occasional’ bar license. Likewise,aplication for spirit and alcohol for the purpose of research in schools, colleges or other institutes, the formalities for depositing the fee and the supply permission will be completed online.

According to Shri Sahu, in the current excise session 2018-19, the revenue recieved from liquor and beer sales in the state from 1st April to October end were Rs.13, 125 crores. This is four thousand crores more than the same period last season. Increasing competitiveness among traders, breaking the syndicate of liquor vendors and effective prevention of liquor smuggling from neighboring states like Haryana are the main reasons for the increase in revenue.Till the end of March, the target of raising revenue has been set to Rs. 29 thousand crore in the current excise session. It is to be noted that in the last excise session 2017-18, revenue recieved were Rs. 17, 320 crores against the target of Rs. 20,595 crores. The Excise Commissioner said that in view of the tragedies of fake and poisonous liquor, the state government has made the strict provision of death penalty as well.

This will end frequent visiting to Excise department, the process for supply of spirits and alcohol for research institutions will also be done online.

Preparations for allotment of licenses for liquor and beer shops have started for the next excise session 2019-20 in the state. Last year, Excise Commissioner Dhiraj Sahu issued instructions to all the District Excise Officers and gave necessary instructions regarding this.It is understood that due to the implementation of Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in March-April, the allocation of alcohol and beer shops in the state will be completed in advance.

Only those shop licences will be renewed who were flawless and their sale was optimum, rest of the shops will be alloted through lottery .In this letter for the year 2018-19, full details of all liquor and beer shops arranged through e-tendering have been asked to be made available on the department website till December 4. This particular detail will include details of the shop ID, district, name of the shop, name of license, name of co-licensee, base number of the license, PAN number, where the shop is situated, the excise department’s area.
