Side Affects Of Alcoholism & Family Voilence

There is a high correlation between juvenile delinquency and children being brought up in an unhealthy environment at home. This finding was shared in a recent study conducted on youngsters lodged at observation homes.Alcoholism in family, domestic violence and constant comparison with siblings and cousins were identified as some of the reasons that created negative thoughts in the minds of impressionable youngsters.

There is a high correlation between what they (kids) see at home and why they turn to a life of crime and / or drug addiction. The children basically imitate their parents and often rebel in the process. For instance, if they see domestic violence, they also try to be violent. Often, this violence take the shape of crime when they step out of the house,”

It had been observed that parental pressure on children to do well academically, and unchecked addiction to smartphones and gaming also promoted negative thinking.

A study was conducted on 200 juvenile delinquents — 165 boys and 35 girls — aged 12 to 17 year, who were lodged at different protection homes. Cases included children who had been accused of theft, molestation, rape and suicide attempts. In one of the cases there was Class 11 girl who had shot at herself with her father’s gun. When we spoke to the inmates, we found there was not much repentance in their minds.

Talking about drug addiction, the problem was seen more in youngsters hailing from elite backgrounds such as children of medical professionals. If parents are too busy earning, they may fail to notice what their child is spending on. Parents just want the kids to be happy in whichever way they desire. Many times, this gives children the opportunity to try out drugs, which can later turn into addiction.
