In the Lok Sabha elections, the Parliamentary seat of Begusarai in Bihar came into limelight, when the J.N.U students union former president Kanhaiya Kumar name was announced to contest from here. After that Union Minister Giriraj Singh refused to contest from here, even then Begusarai’s name remained in the headlines.

At present, Tanveer Hassan of RJD, Kanhaiya Kumar from CPI and Giriraj Singh from BJP are contesting from there, the same Giriraj who has been regularly raising controversy with his statements. When RJD Youth Leader Tejaswi Yadav reached the Ayodhya grounds of Bachwada in Begusarai, to address the public meeting in favor of Tanvir Hassan of RJD, the crowd looked more eager to see his helicopter rather than listening to him.
When the reporters interacted with the crowd, the women present there praised the ban imposed on liquor. When the women standing in the field were asked, who is coming, their answer was very funny, some said, ‘Rahul Yadav’ and after that they started laughing. Then they themselves say don’t know who has come. In response to this question, what he is saying? they replied its a good job that liquor has been banned. The person who has banned the liquor will win. “When asked who has banned liquor, they said that Modi has done. However, the reality is completely different. The coalition Government of JDU and RJD, in Bihar had imposed prohibition on liquor in 2015.

In his election speech, RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav also questioned the ban on liquor. He asked the crowd is liquor ban effective there, and himself replied, but liquor is available everywhere, rich people are drinking the same old liquor. However, it is a different matter that people did not took his word very seriously.
