Hereditary Genes Behind Liquor Consumption

Discussions regarding liquor consumption is common, why someone drinks it, and how somebody get addicted to it. In the new research related to liquor consumption, it has been found that it is related to our genes. This was confirmed in a new research by genetics scientists from the Northwestern University of America. The results of this research are published in the journal Human Molecular Genetics. Researcher Marilyn Cornelis had earlier published a report about genetics and coffee consumption. After that she wanted to find out about tasting genes, which decides what we would like to drink.

Cornelis and his team were amazed when they came to know that people’s choice was not based on their tasting genes, but based on the genes that are related to the effect of a beverage on the mind. Cornelis told that the genetics elements that determine our choice, are present in these beverages which affect our mood. How do people feel after drinking coffee or any other drink is the deciding factor for their likes or dislikes?

After this, consumption trend of people was studied with the genome. Cornelis said that taste can be a reason but it is acquired. Coffee because of its bitterness, is something we should avoid from the beginning. Cornellis told that but we consume it because we have learned compare its taste to that of caffeine. However, the researchers have not paid attention to one thing, that sugar or cream can be mixed to reduce the bitterness of coffee.
