Bharat Bhushan Maintained Distance From Liquor

Glamorous world of movies and liquor are somehow interlinked to each other, but to be there and not drink a single drop of liquor is simply an achievement in itself, such people are rare. One of them was actor Bharat Bhushan, who is considered to be the foremost among the most simple, intuitive, decent and gentle actors. He was so decent that he was not linked to even a single scandal in his entire career. His full name was Bharat Bhushan Bhalla and his birth place was Meerut district of UP.

In his daily life also Bharat Bhushan adopted completely simple life style. Neither did he ate meat, nor drank liquor, and he was completely alien to the taste of cigarette. Bharat Bhushan’s first film was ‘Chitralekha’ written by Bhagwati Charan Verma and directed by Kedar Sharma. Kedar’s second film, ‘Suhagraat’, earned him national fame, ‘Baiju Bawra’ added another feather in his crown, and then ‘Mirza Ghalib’ by Sohrab Modi made him the shinning star of the films.

He was successful and able to give proper push, to the expansion and proliferation of nationalism through his acting in films like ‘Ananda Math’. Bharat Bhushan was the only one in the Hindi film world, who was really interested in reading and writing. There was a collection of thousands of books in his home library and his handwritten comments on different pages of each book. On the cover of each book, with his signature he wrote, ‘This book has been bought from such and such book seller and if you want to read it, you can buy it from there’.

In his life Bharat Bhushan worked in more than fifty films and if compared to nowadays, he earned millions, but he was hand to mouth when he died. The person whom he had entrusted with the task of his business turned out to be greedy. He took away all his possessions.
