Awaiting Deaths for Campaign Against Illegal liquor

Recently, 114 people died due to poisonous liquor in Kushinagar and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, on February 6, 2019, death due to poisonous liquor was firstly reported from Kushinagar , followed by Saharanpur. After this, news of the death of people kept on coming for many days. On this incident, UP’s DGP Mr. OP Singh said on February 8 that we can not run the campaign against illegal liquor for 365 days. Our campaign against adulterated liquor keeps going on continuously. He also said on the same day that we can not run the campaign by informing media.

On the other hand, keeping in view Saharanpur, Kushinagar poisonous liquor case, DM of most of the districts of UP had instructed to make joint teams of excise, revenue and police, these teams were instructed continuously carry out campaign till 17th February. Remember this liquor case started on February 6th. This means that the campaign will lasted only for 10 days. However, after the painful incident like Kushinagar and Saharanpur, twitter account of the UP Police was flooded with videos and photos related to clamp down on illegal liquor. This proves that the factories of adulterated illegal liquor are flourishing in most places of UP. 3.25 lakh liters of illicit liquor have been recovered in the raid after the Kushi Nagar and Saharanpur incident, as well as 2.06 lakh liters of raw material was also destroyed. Apart from this, 1162 illegal liquor factories were also demolished. About 6365 cases were registered and 6692 people have been arrested.

The question arises in mind that when illegal liquor can be caught in such a large quantities in a 10-day campaign, then the illegal liquor production can be eliminated from the root if the campaign runs continuously. , but perhaps the intention of the UP Police differ. It is worth noting that nearly 304 people have died due to poisonous liquor in the last six years in UP.
On January 12, 2018, nine people were killed by drinking poisonous liquor in Barabanki. In this case the police inspector was suspended. At the government level, it was argued that death was due to drinking of spirit and not due to illegal liquor. So action was not taken against the officials.
In July 2017, illicit liquor in Azamgarh had killed 25 people. In this case, the officers were spared by saying that their appointment in the district was done a few days ago.In May 2018, more than a dozen people died from alcohol in Kanpur’s Sasendi and Kanpur dehat. In this case, action was surely taken against some of the big officials, but officials in Lucknow were not investigated. January 2018 9 deaths in Barabanki,24 deaths in Eta in 2016, More than 42 deaths in Lucknow and Unnao in 2015, 47 deaths in Mubarakpur of Azamgarh in 2013, 12 people died in Varanasi in 2011, these figures are all based on facts.
