It is famous in Mumbai that if the Kapoor’s family does not drink wine, half of the shops in Mumbai will be closed. Holi or some other festival or party, where there are Kapoor brothers, liquor usually flows. Raj Kapoor was passionate about wine, and shared special relationship with it. It is famous about Raj Kapoor that he was partial while serving liquor.

Randhir Kapoor says that he used to drink Johnny Walker black label whiskey, and that too from London. Madhu Kapoor, in his book, tells Rishi Kapoor that Raj Kapoor used to claim her own rights on her black label whiskey. When he used to go to parties, he used to take his Black label with him. Even while serving liquor, he used to follow a kind of caste system. He used to drink black label purchased from London and used to serve it to his very own special people. He writes further, the people he used to serve london’s Black label, one of them was Tanuja, and he kept the black label purchased from Dubai for his other friends, and in the end, the black label bought from Delhi and Mumbai came in his sons’ part. Randhir Kapoor felt very bad that Tanuja was getting London whiskey and for him it was the Indian one .
At Shatrughan’s House
Raj Kapoor used to drink liquor where ever he used to go, he would neither see the time nor the place, because of this habit, once Shatrughan Sinha was caught in trouble. Both went on with their conversation and it was 4’oclock in the morning. Now it was getting difficult for Raj Kapoor to suppress his desire for liquor. He told Shatrughan that he want to drink, as Shatrughan did not want to displease his guests, Shatrughan came up with a solution. Shatrughan arranged a bar for Rajkapoor in a van parked in front of his house, and both of them enjoyed and even slept in the van. In this way, Sinha’s rule was also not broken and the mother also didn’t came to know about it.
