Biggest Problem: Breaking Raw Liquor Syndicate

On Friday, a very startling incident happened in Meerut, in Sakota village under Daurala police station area, five children from the eighth class reached their college in alcoholic condition, after this surprising incident, the school management suspended the student who had arranged the liquor, families of the other four students were called and they were let off after being warned. Although some students said that they consumed alcohol inside the class, these five students did not reach the ground in the morning and stayed back in their class, and when the children came back they found that they were drinking in the class..

It is a different matter that they were caught, but we found out that some children from Ruhasa, Dasarathpur and Jamalpur were doing the same in other classes too. These students had bought the wine for Rs.20 / , raw alcohol was purchased from Sakauti, if sources were to be believed, here raw liquor is available in almost every village. Daurala inspector, Mithun Dixit, however, refused of having any such information. This incident surely gives a pretty good idea on what impact does the raw liquor syndicate is having on the villages. Raw liquor kilns are in the Khadar area of Muzaffarnagar, Meerut and Bijnore.Raw liquor is being manufactured on large scale in the jungles, then it is being supplied to villages, its an eye opener for police, sometimes when someone dies after drinking raw liquor.

The biggest syndicate of raw liquor is in Hastinapur area, hundreds of kilns are been operated here, even excise officers and police do not have the courage to go in the area around the Ganga, they have been attacked several times. During the BSP government in 2012, an operation had certainly put an end to the illegal liquor trade for some months, but now it has started again.

During that time, dozen people died drinking poisonous liquor, after this hundreds of kilns were destroyed under the leadership of Meerut IG Javed Akhtar and crackdown on businessman associated with it , but now it has started again, if the villagers are to be believed they have the support of Excise officials and police.

However, Meerut’s Excise Officer, Jainendra Upadhyay, claims that he has taken action against illegal liquor manufacturers and says that anyone can give information related to illegal liquor on the helpline number. This week, CO Mawana raided a house in Ekvara village and grabbed two hundred liters of raw liquor but the accused Sandeep managed to escape, earlier Sandeep was arrested by police with 20 thousand liters of ethanol.
