Cow Welfare Cess on Alcohol

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken the responsibility to take care of the helpless cattles, but some of its expenditure will also be borne by the UP’s liquor consumers. The State Government for this work has announced to impose cow welfare cess on the sale of liquor. It was passed in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow January’s first Tuesday.

The state government has imposed the maximum cess on liquor

This information was given by State Government spokesperson and Energy Minister Shrikant Sharma. He said that the State Government is preparing to construct at least 1000 capacity cow’s shelter in every village panchayat to protect the villagers from damage caused by the cattles. The Government will impose cow welfare cess on liquor for the maintenance of cattles living in it. The Government’s goal is to recover Rs 300-400 crores annually through cow welfare cess.

Every Urban and Rural body to have Cow’s Shelter

Shrikant Sharma said that temporary cows shelter will be opened in all rural and urban bodies. This includes all Gram Panchayat, Zila Panchayat, Nagar Panchayat, Municipality and Municipal Corporation. These shelters will be built on government land through MNREGA. Also the related rural and urban bodies funds and the legislator and MP development fund will also be utilized. The government has already released 100 crore rupees for this to the local bodies. It has also been decided that all the kanji houses of UP will be started and caretakers will be deployed. For this, BDO at the block level, SDM at the Tehsil level, DM at the district level and at the government level state steering committee will be formed headed by the Chief Secretary.
