The incident is not too old when one night in summer, Saharanpur police caught a liquor laden truck. There were 637 boxes in this truck all branded. When calculated, liquor was worth Rs 23 lakhs. SP City Prabal Pratap Singh handled the operation. Inquiries revealed that smuggling was being done from Haryana and it was being transported to Dehradun.This raids took place at Yamunanagar border of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and the police arrested Jogendra, who lives in Khalasi line. Jogendra told the police that this illegal smuggling of liquor was being done for the amateurs of Uttarakhand. But the surprise factor was that the liquor bill was meant for Himachal Pradesh. The liquor came from Haryana, was caught in UP, and was going to Uttarakhand and the bill was in the name of Himachal Pradesh. Clearly the police were boggled.Saharanpur Police handed the responsibility to surveillance cell to solve the complexity of this work, surveillance cell arrested Pramod of Shamli, a friend of Jogendra, of the Khalasi line. The new thing was revealed that distellery paper were fake. The court ordered the destruction of alcohol. Of these 470 bottles were of Crazy Whiskey.

Arvind Kumar tells us interesting analysis “In Haryana, one time meal is available for at least Rs. 50. The price of a tiffin is also not less than Rs 40. These rates are of the cheapest food, the food is generally expensive, but here we have selected the average rate, now we come to liquor.Country liquor i.e. (Quarter ) is available in just Rs 22. In Haryana, the English Besto brand half is available at Rs 35 and the quarter is only 25 rupees, that means the price of liquor is Rs 15 to 28 lower then that of one time food. “That is the reason Saharanpur has become a link in liquor smuggling. But the problem is not only of Saharanpur, presently Dinesh Kumar is the police captain. Last year, he was SP Shamli . Shamli is also on the Haryana border. In October, they caught a big truck in Shamli and there were 700 liquor cartoons in it. Its estimated cost is Rs. 25 lakhs. All of these cartoons were with stickers of UP. Rahul Tyagi (name changed) who is familiar with this business tells us that when the policing gets strict in Saharanpur, then shamli gets safer for smuggling.
