Airlines Operational Chief failed in Alcohol Test

Operational Chief  of Air India stopped from flying after he failed in the Alcohol Test. Capt AK Kathpalia was the pilot of the flight from Delhi to London on Sunday. This is the second chance, when the Kathpalia failed in the test.In January 2017 after failing in Breath Analyzer test , the Directorate General of Civil Aviation canceled his licenses for three months.

Another Pilot Sent
According to Air India officer, Kathpalia had to take AI-111 aircraft from New Delhi to London. After failing twice in the Breath Analyzer test, he was not declared suitable for flying.He was replaced by another pilot.This led to 55 minutes delay in flight.
According to the Aircraft Rule 24, if pilots and crew members take alcohol 12 hours before the flight, then it is considered to be violation of the rules. Before flying,alcohol tests of all pilots and crew members is conducted, which is mandatory to pass.
According to the rules of DGCA, if the pilot fails for the first time in the Alcohol Test, then its license is canceled for three months. At the same time,if it fails for a second time,then licence is cancelled for three years and for the third time the license is canceled forever.

Kathpalia has been appointed by Air India for the post of operational chief for five years. According to an officer of the airline, his license can be decided by Monday.
