Yoga Helpful In Giving Up Liquor

On the occasion of International Yoga Day in Ranchi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, that by practicing yoga we can get rid of diabetes and liquor addiction.

On June 21 yoga day was celebrated with full fervor in India. Along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his Cabinet colleagues, the Governors of BJP-ruled states, and the Chief Ministers, all were seen doing yoga on Yoga Day. On Friday along with thousands of people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did yoga at Prabhat Tara Maidan in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi.

Compulsion Became A Signature Style In ‘Sharaabi’

On the occasion of Yoga Day Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, the principle of yoga is to promote peace, prosperity and harmony. Addressing 30,000 people gathered at Prabhat Tara Ground in Ranchi, the Prime Minister said, “Yoga has always been associated with peace and harmony. I thank people for accepting yoga. I urge people to make it a part of life”.

To deliver his message to the global audience”PM Modi addressed in English for a few minutes. Modi said, “Yoga is beyond caste, religion, region and has no limits.” He said, “Yoga is solution for liquor addiction and diabetes.” Modi, emphasized on yoga research, so that the world can know about its benefits. He also expressed concern about the problems related to heart, in the youth of the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has probably for the first made a statement regarding liquor. He said that by adopting yoga, we can shun liquor. On one hand, while the Prime Minister is talking about how we can give up liquor, and on the other hand liquor is emerging as the main source of revenue for many BJP ruled states. The UP government has set a target of 33,000 crores for this year and it can go up to Rs.49000 crores if decision of allowing micro-breweries and other new sources of excise are added. Kanhaiya Lal Maurya, secretary general of the Lucknow Liquor Association, also considers it true. Like in UP, liquor has also become the main source of revenue for the state government of Haryana and Maharashtra.
