A joint team of Rae Bareli Police, Excise Department and STF has caught the illegal liquor factory in Manehru village of Bhadokhar police station area of Rae Bareli on Saturday night. Seven people have been arrested in this connection, Surajlal alias Sushil Yadav, resident of Jugrajpur village of Uchahar police station area, Brijesh Kumar resident of Mughal ka Purwa region of Bhadokhar police station, Chaksirihara post Bhanv village resident Rahul Kumar, Sarai Mohammed Sharif Fatte ka Purva resident Suryabhan Singh, Manehru village resident Ramtirath Yadav, Dharmender Kumar and 721 Amrishpuri colony resident of the city, Ratnesh Mishra. STF has also recovered chemicals in large quantity which was being used for making liquor from the factory premises, in addition illegal liquor was also being supplied from this factory to other states.
STF is also investigating, whether or not this factory is related to Barabanki tragedy. According to the STF, 5750 liters of spirit in115 cans, 16 cartoons of ‘Masti’ brand liquor, 1400 yellow caps of Superior Industries Bareilly, 34000 green caps of Radico Khaitan Limited Company , six plastic tub, one plastic funnel, four mugs of plastic, 63,000 labels of ‘Masti’ brand, 1600 cardboard, one car, and two bikes have been recovered.
According to Excise Department, the cost of all items recovered from the spot is around Rs. 5 crores, the chemical recovered alone is more than Rs. 3 crores. SP Sunil Kumar Singh informed that late night it was reported that on the Rae Bareli-Dalmau Highway, illegal liquor factory is being operated near Palesar located in Manehru village of Bhadokhar police station area. On this, STF’s Circle officer Amit Nagar, Bhadokhar station incharge JP Yadav, Munshiganj Post Incharge Laxmi Narayan Diwedi and Excise Inspector Sadar Pushpendra Mishra raided the factory. On the spot, spirit which was brought from outside was being unloaded from the trucks. STF, Police and Excise team arrested seven people from the spot.
