The incident of 114 people killed due to spurious liqour in U.P and Uttarakhand created an uproar in Rajya Sabha and U.P assembly. In the UP Legislative Assembly, the opposition raised the demand for CBI inquiry into the poisonous liquor case but the government ignored the demand. As their demands were not met Opposition boycotted the Legislative Assembly on Monday.
As soon as the House started on Monday, Congress leader Ajay Kumar Lallu demanded to discuss the deaths of poisonous liquor in Saharanpur and Kushinagar. The SP, BSP members also came to the well of the House while supporting the demand. As the ruckus increased, the Speaker adjourned the question hour.
When the House started again, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna on behalf of the government said that there were 10 deaths in Kushinagar and 39 deaths in Saharanpur. The government has taken stringent action in this matter,and has suspended two COs. A special SIT has been formed to investigate the incident, which will report in 10 days.
In the Rajya Sabha also, case of death of more than 100 people due to poisonous liquor in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand was raised. Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party MPs while raising this issue demanded discussion. MPs of both parties started making noises as their demand was not accepted. For this reason, the proceedings of the House were interrupted for some time.
On the other hand UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has talked about conspiracy behind the poisonous liquor case. He said that behind this incident, he is smelling conspiracy. He said that the immediate relief of Rs two lakh to the families of those who died and 50 thousand for those seriously ill was disbursed. He also said that SIT has been constituted to investigate this case which will report in 10 days. As soon as the report is received, strict action will be taken against the culprits.
