The Uttar Pradesh government has provided relief along with shocks to liquor businessmen. In the new policy, the government has increased the processing fees of the application, whereby liquor businessmen are having trouble. Excise Department for the next financial year has increased the processing fees from Rs 15 thousand to 18 thousand rupees for the application of beer shops, domestic and English liquor. Rs 2 per litre have been increased in basic license fees of country liquor, while beer and english liquor licence fees have been increased by 15 percent. There is no increase in quota of country liquor shops in the excise policy. The government has not set up any quota for sale in English liquor shops, however, the liquor businessmen were very upset about its apprehensions.

Country Liquor: In 2018-19, the government had fixed the processing fee for the application of country liquor shops to 15 thousand rupees. According to the new excise policy, the processing fees have been increased to Rs 18 thousand in 2019-20 by raising Rs three thousand and in the same way 2018-19 basic license fees were 28 rupees per bulk liter. For the next year, the basic license fee has been increased by two rupees to 30 rupees per bulk liters. There has been no increase in fixed quota for country liquor shops. It was decided that the same quota will remain for next year.
Renewal fees for the country liquor shops have been increased by about 20 per cent in comparison to 2017-2018. The renewal fee for municipal area shops increased from 66 thousand rupees to 75 thousand rupees. Similarly, the renewal fee for the shops in the Municipality area increased from 55 thousand to 70 thousand, the shops of the Nagar Panchayat from 45 thousand to 55 thousand and the rural area shops fees were increased from 19 thousand to 25 thousand rupees.
English liquor: Licence fee for English liquor shops has been increased by about 15 percent; First licence fee for municipal limit shops was 9.85 lakh, which has been increased to Rs 11.30 lakh for next year, similarly licence fees of municipality sector shops increased from 3.35 lakh to 3.85 lakh, licence fee of shops in Nagar Panchayat increased from 1.60 lakh to 1.85 lakh and licence fees of rural shops increased from 85 thousand to 1 lakh.

Similarly, the renewal fees of English liquor stores have been increased by about twenty percent, for the municipal area shops, the renewal fee was 70 thousand rupees per store in 2017-18. Now it is raised to 85 thousand rupees Similarly, the renewal fee for the shops of the municipality area increased from 60 thousand to 75 thousand, the shops of the Nagar Panchayat increased from 45 thousand to 55 thousand and the fees for rural shops were increased from 23 thousand to 30 thousand rupees.
Beer Shop: Licence fees for new beer shops has been increased by about 15%; For the municipal limits shops, the first licence fee was 1.95 lakh, which has been increased to 2.25 lakh for next year, municipal area shops licence fees from 1.05 lakh to Rs 1.20 lakh, licence fee of shops in Nagar Panchayat increased from Rs 60 thousand to 70 thousand and licence fee of rural shops will be Rs 65 thousand.
