Government to Earn Rs.29302 cr. from Liquor

Uttar Pradesh Government has set a target to earn 29,302 crore rupees from the next financial year i.e., from April 2019 to March 2020. In the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Excise Policy was approved for the financial year 2019-20. The new excise policy has been prepared entirely with the aim of increasing the revenue of the state government. As per the new policy, liquor and beer shops will open from 10 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. So far shops opened from 12 noon to 10pm. . In the new policy it has been decided not to increase the prices of liquor and beer. On the lines of other states, approval has been given to open Micro Breweries in UP too. Sales of liquor and beer in all stores will now be done through Point of Sale machines. According to the new policy, the Excise Commissioner will have the right to create only 1% of the new shops, this way 2% new model shops will be created.Permission of the government will be needed to open more new shops.

Government spokesperson and Health Minister Siddhartha Nath Singh said that in the new policy, there will be auto allocation of those shops which have achieved their target and the remaining shops be allocated through e-lottery . In the new excise policy, for the first time, the allocation of cannabis shops will be done through e-lottery and there is a provision of not allocating one person more than two cannabis shops in one district. Shri Singh said that the liquor shops will now be allocated through lottery. Apart from this, renewal of 60 percent of the shops will be done. The deficiencies of last year have been removed in the new policy.

State Minister for Excise Jai Pratap Singh said that in the year 2018-19, the government was successfull in breaking the wine mafia nexus, because of this the revenue increased to nearly 5000 crore, so far Rs. 4800 crore has already been deposited in the government account.In the year 2017-18, the Excise Department got Rs 10118 crore in the of revenue. 15005 crores in 2018-19 Last year, the excise department had increased revenue gains of 48 per cent. Dheeraj Sahu, Principal Secretary, Excise Department said that the target for this time is 29,302 crores, while the target for last time was 23,000 thousand crores.
