In UP, revenue has increased rapidly along with consumption of foreign and country liquor, even though liquor shops have reduced. After the allotment of shops through lottery, in the first six months of this financial year, excise revenue has increased 50 percent more than the previous year.
9.26 million bottles of english liquor were sold till September this year, which is 30.8% more than 7.08 million bottles sold during the previous year. Speaking of beer, its consumption also increased by ten percent.Last year 16.58 million beer bottles were sold, while this year 18.26 million bottles of beer were sold in the said period.

Last year, in six months, the government had received revenue of Rs 7662.48 crore, while revenues of this year increased by Rs 3836.06 crore to Rs 11,498.54 crore. Excise Minister Jai Pratap Singh believes it is the success of this new excise policy.Next year’s policy will be made easier by making further changes.
Rise in Consumption Of Alcohol
In the first six months of this year, the consumption of both country and foriegn liquor has increased by 30% compared to the previous financial year. In the state till September 2018, 20.00 crore bulk liter domestic liquor was sold.It was 9.6% more than the government fixed target (MDQ) of 18.25 million bulk liters. But till September last year, 15.35 crore bulk-liter domestic liquor was sold in the state, which is expected to increase by 30.3 per cent in domestic liquor sales this year.

86.5 percent Revenue Collected
In the last financial year (2017-18), the government had collected excise revenue of Rs 1,237 crore,this year in september the government excise revenue increased by Rs 238.61 crore, 1475.68 crores were deposited in the public treasury on September 7. However, the state government had set the target of Rs 13,300 crore in the financial year 2018-19 till September. However, the Excise Department could only raise revenue of Rs 11,498.54 crore. That is 86.5 percent of the target set. Revenue recovery increased in comparison to previous year, even though allocation of 303 shops in the state could not be done even after several lotteries. So for the first time, the government had to cancel 303 liquor shops together. These were mainly country liquor shops.
