Beer consumption in Germany is increasing rapidly. So much so that unofficially beer has been declared as a ‘national drink’ in Germany. It has been revealed in a report, that last year 8 billion euros of beer was consumed by the Germans that is approximately 62000 crores of rupees.

Germany is the most populous country in Europe. According to a report by the news agency DPA, German nationals consumed 100 euros i.e 112 American dollar per person in 2018, and consumed about 80 thousand rupees of beer or beer beverages.
According to market research agency Nielsen, In 2018 the weather in Germany was hotter then expected, hence the consumption of beer also increased. According to this agency, in Germany, about 6.1 billion liters of beer was consumed in 2018, which was 2.9 percent more than the year 2017.

During this, there was an increase of about seven per cent in the profit of shopkeepers and companies selling beer in Germany. One of the reasons for this profit was, that in Germany last year, the prices of the beer made from barley and wheat were also increased. However, during this period, sales of non alcoholic beverages also went up.

According to Germany’s official figures, passion for beer in Germany is increasing day by day. In 2018, beer production increased by 2.2 percent to 8.7 billion liters. Last year the production was 184 million liters more than 2017. During this period, the prices of beer increased by 3.5 percent, which was much higher than the national index. Due to the growing demand of beer in Germany, the number of units preparing it is also increasing.

With the increase of 39 units of beer production in 2018, the total number of beer making units increased to 1539. Of these, 42 percent are in Southern Germany ie Bavaria, there are a total of 654 beer production units. Bavaria is the area in Germany where most of the beer is produced. Every year about 2.4 billion liters of beer is prepared.
